Guess the Drawing — a free online sketch guessing game

A sketch draws itself on screen, line by line. Can you name it before the pen stops? Three answers, three lives, and it gets faster the longer you last.

  • 9,000+ drawings
  • No download, no sign-up
  • Two answer modes

Unlike the drawing games where you draw and your friends guess, this one is single player — the drawing is already being made, and the only question is how few lines you need.

Two ways to play. In words mode you pick from three written answers — reading under time pressure, and the mode adults want. In pictures mode the three answers are drawings instead of text, so children who cannot read yet can play from about age three. Best scores are kept separately for each.

Frequently asked questions

How do I trace a drawing with my phone?

Two ways. You can put the sketch on the screen, lay thin paper over it and follow the lines that show through — the phone works as a light box. Or you can prop the phone above a sheet of paper and use the camera overlay, so the sketch appears on the page in the viewfinder while you copy it by hand at full size.

Do I need a printer or tracing paper?

No. The whole point is that the phone replaces both. The screen method needs thin paper; the camera method needs no special paper at all.

Is Line2Art free?

Yes, with limits. You get free daily unlocks from the gallery and free photo conversions each day, and you can watch a short ad to continue. Pro removes the ads and the limits, and is available as a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.

What is the difference between Trace it and Draw with camera?

Trace it uses the phone screen as a backlit guide — good for small drawings on thin paper. Draw with camera puts the sketch over the live camera picture of your paper, so you can work at any size on any paper. Draw with camera needs camera permission and a steady phone.

Can I use my own photo?

Yes. Load a picture from your gallery or take a new one and the built-in converter turns it into line art you can trace, draw or colour. Photos with strong light and a plain background convert best.

How many sketches are there?

Over nine thousand line-art drawings across portraits, animals, anime, food, flowers, planets, dragons, buildings, vehicles, fashion and more, with new ones added regularly.

Is it good for complete beginners?

Yes. Start with simple line art rather than faces, use the step-by-step sketches so you build the drawing in stages, and fade the guide out as you go so you end up looking at your own lines.

What is the Guess the Drawing game?

A free browser game on this site. A sketch draws itself stroke by stroke and you name it from three options before the pen finishes. It uses the same gallery of drawings, needs no download or sign-up, and keeps your personal best score.

Can children who cannot read play the game?

Yes. In the game settings, switch Answers from Words to Pictures. The three options then become finished drawings instead of text, so the child matches shapes rather than reading. Best scores are kept separately for each mode.

Is there an online coloring book too?

Yes. The Coloring Book game is a free color-by-number you play in the browser. Pick a picture, follow the palette — it shows how many areas each color has left and highlights where they are — and zoom in for the small details. A My-colors mode lets you paint any area with any color instead.

Can I save my coloring?

Yes, in two ways. Your progress is remembered on your device automatically, so you can leave and continue later. And at any moment you can download the picture as a PNG file or share it straight from the game.

Which devices are supported?

The app runs on iPhone and Android. The Guess the Drawing game and the Coloring Book run in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
